We feel like parents – we’ve spent the past couple of weeks seeing students off to college – Praise GOD!

Last September five young people from Tumaini left for further training – Ann and Miriam went to Coast Institute of Technology in Voi to study Tourism and Catering – and Anthony went to Muranga College of Technology to study Electrical (Power) Engineering – and Jane and Lucy went to Thika College of Technology to study Food and Beverage Production and Management.

And now this year, six students are beginning their new lives. Caroline is enrolled at Daystar University in Athi River -- and Ann, Carol and Alice are at Nairobi Aviation College (in the Uchumi Building just a block from the Hilton Hotel) where they are taking Hotel (Restaurant) Management – and Rachel and Joseph are in Meru studying Business Administration at Kenya Methodist University (which just received its charter from President Kibaki this past June). And there are also 2 others from Riamukurwe Parish who are in college as well – Charity (who assisted Marilyn with the photo and art classes) is taking Commerce at Edgerton University in Nakuru – and Chrispo is also taking Business Administration at Kenya Methodist University.

It is really pretty impressive – and amazing – to see these young women and men going to college and university now – when less than two years ago, they had no hope or dreams of going anywhere. Thank you GOD – and thank you too people of all the churches in the US who have supported Tumaini and have helped to improve the lives of these young people by making education possible for them.

In just six weeks from now, fourteen Form 4 students from Tumaini will write their exams – and they will all do well (we hope and pray) so that next September, they can go off to university or college or to a vocational training school.

If you’d like to help these kids further their education with a scholarship, please send your donation to The Outreach Foundation – along with a note stating that you want your contribution to be used for post secondary education of a Tumaini student.
