It is good to back home in Connecticut. Thank you so much Merrideth and John, for taking such good care of our home – and thank you God, that the huge tree that came down during the tropical storm did not hit our bedroom, where Merrideth and John were sleeping. And thank you Starr Landscaping for cutting up that tree – we now have at least a three year supply of firewood.

Friends at the Beach We enjoyed visiting with our friends, Terry and Ty, at their friends’ beautiful home overlooking the Norwalk Islands and Long Island Sound. Marilyn is back into jogging again, and she is refreshed three or four times during the week by these same views and the softly lapping waves.

We Will Remember At a very special memorial service, we, along with several hundred others, said goodbye to Rev. Ed Danks, a former pastor of Noroton Presbyterian Church in Darien, Ct. He was a co-founder of Tumaini Children’s Home in Nyeri, Kenya – and at the family's request, a memorial fund has been opened at The Outreach Foundation. If you would like to remember Ed for his passion for vulnerable children, you may send a gift in his memory to:

             The Outreach Foundation
             381 Riverside Drive, Suite 110
             Franklin, TN 37064

Please earmark the gift as "Ed Danks Memorial for Tumaini Children's Home".

NPC Mission Team One Saturday morning, at the NPC Mission Team Retreat, we brought everyone up to date on the church’s mission projects in Kenya – Nambale Magnet School, Bob and Jennifer Chedester at Rift Valley Academy, Caroline King’ori with Life Ministry at Kenyatta University and Alice Nganga and Margaret Ngure at Presbyterian University of East Africa. Please see www.norotonchurch.com/mission to learn about other misssion projects.

Sr. Mary at St. Mary Church That same Saturday, in the afternoon, we met with Sister Mary at St. Mary’s Church in Greenwich. She is a Co-founder and the Director of Nyumbani Children’s Home in Karen, Nyumbani Village in Kitui and Lea Toto in Nairobi. She had been to Ireland and Italy - and several cities here in the US to raise funds for medicine for 2,000 thousand poor children. Please see www.nyumbani.org.

Please pray with us -

We must join our prayer with work.
How is it possible to change one’s work into a prayer?
Work cannot substitute for prayer.
Nevertheless, we can learn to make work a prayer.
How can we do this?
By doing our work with Jesus and for Jesus.
That is the way to make our work a prayer.
It is possible that we may not be able to keep our attention
fully on God while we work,
but God doesn’t demand that we do.
Yet we can fully desire and intend that our work
be done with Jesus and for Jesus.
This is beautiful and that is what God wants
our will and desire to be for him,
for our families, for our children, for our brethren and for the poor.
