This has been a wonderful month with many joyful times – and very colorful days too, as the leaves have been turning to brilliant red, gold and orange - and then the snow came and we were in a winter wonderland.
We helped pack 300,000 meals at the Feed My Starving Children Moblie Event. The teams in our shift,
which included Betsy and Michele who visited us in Kenya in August, filled 49,000 packs of chic,
veg, soy and rice – enough for one meal a day for 135 children in Haiti, Nicaragua and Guatemala for an
entire year. See www.FMSC.org for more about the great work of this
NGO (non-government organization) based in Minnesota.
Russ Brine, Maryknoll Lay Missioner and Project Manager of St. John Bosco Children’s Centre in Kitale, Kenya spent a weekend with us. He spoke at all
six masses at St. John Church, and encouraged parishioners to continue their support of 26 students who are currently in good Catholic boarding
schools. Maria joined us there. She recently spent three weeks in Kitale, and she plans to join Maryknoll as a lay missioner when she retires from her
Public Health job. See www.boscokenya.org for more about the Bosco Centre.
We celebrated with Rev. Evalyn Wakhusama, founder and director of Nambale Magnet School in Western Kenya. She received a Distinguished Alumni
Award from Yale Divinity School where she earned her Masters of Divinity degree in 2001. Her husband Sam joined her – it was his first time in the US.

Cecilia and Stanley, from Kenya, were blessed in June with a little girl they named Blessings. We were in Kenya when she arrived, and we just got to
see her now. Cecilia is in the US Army Reserves and is currently taking classes in pre-med at Southern Connecticut University. And Stanley is with
an assisted living facility in West Haven.
Send us forth each day, O God, to announce Your peace, love, forgiveness and joy to all the earth. Like the Samaritan, help us be good neighbors. Like the Centurion, help us confess our faith. Like the Beloved Disciple, help us to be bold and faithful witnesses to Your Resurrection. All the world deserves to hear Your Good News. Help us proclaim and live it today. Amen. ~ Maryknoll |
