 Fields of Maize It is raining in Kenya and it is green there again. Thank you – thank you God for refreshing the land so people can grow maize – and the cattle and the animals have grass to eat.

Proverbs 22:9 says “The kindly man will be blessed, for he gives of his sustenance to the poor”. The weekend after we arrived back home, we joined hundreds of men, women and children at the “Feed My Hungry Children” event in Darien. The 228,000 meals that were packed are on their way to Nicaragua.

 Fr. Riwa, A Meru Elder and Warrior Fr. Riwa, from Meru, Kenya, was here in the US to meet with and to thank his donors. He is the founder and director of a Hospitality Centre for former street children, as well as St. Francis Boys’ Village and St. Clair Girls’ School. We saw him in Avalon, NJ – and you can learn a bit about him in our September 2009 Update. You can help him by donating on line at www.friendsofkenyanorphans.org. When you go to the website be sure to visit the media section and listen to the the beautiful song "Who Will Help the Children" which was written especially for the project.

Sister Mary, co-founder and director of Nyumbani Children’s Home and Village in Kenya, also spent time in the US. She had meetings on Capital Hill and at the UN, where she “challenged our world with the need to make available in the developing world the recently developed ARVs, and the need to care for orphans who, if we do nothing, may grow up to be criminals and terrorists.” We saw her at St. Mary’s Church in Greenwich, CT where she asked f or money for food for the 15,000 children and old people in Kenya that the Nyumbani staff are currently feeding. You can make your contribution on-line – www.nyumbani.org

Caroline (left) and Friend Nancy Praise God! Caroline, who recently finished her degree course in Community Development at Daystar University, has a job with Life Ministries, which is know as Campus Crusade here in the US. After she completes her three months of training, she will be located at Kenyatta University, just outside of Nairobi.

 Autumn in Connecticut We stopped for lunch at The Stone House on our way to Goodspeed Opera House on the Connecticut River, where we enjoyed “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum”. Do you know that the roots of this comedy go back “to the esteemed ancient Roman playwright Titus Maccius Plautus, born in Sarsina, Umbria around 254 B.C.”?

Please pray with us -

God has created us to do for Him some definite service;
He has committed some work to us which
He has not committed to another.
We have our mission…We are links in a chain,
connections between people.
God has not created us for nothing.
We shall do good, we shall do His work;
we shall be preachers of truth in our own places,
while not intending it, if we do but keep His commandments
and serve Him in our calling.
