We celebrated John’s 72nd birthday, and we are counting on at least another 28. We also celebrated the grandsons’ birthdays. Andrew is now a teenager and Matt is 10 years old. It was fun seeing them trying to eat their favorite food – Chinese - with chopsticks that we brought back from Japan for them a couple of years ago. We gave our Tumaini Children’s Home presentation one last time – at Sterling Glen, a Supportive Living Residence in Darien. Two friends from Bethany attended. They are very involved with fundraising for Nambale Residential Magnet School in Western Kenya which our friend Evalyn is building. See www.wiks.org to learn how you can help. We saw a great production of “Singing in the Rain” at Goodspeed Opera House – complete with rain. This was a first for us – we have never seen singers and dancers get drenched on stage. We spent a wonderful weekend at Stone Harbor, New Jersey with our Gourmand friends. We walked miles on the beach and ate Southern African food. (Our hostess Sherrie visited Southern Africa last fall.) We will miss Sherrie - she has sold her home in Norwalk and has moved to a new home on a lake in New Jersey. We had dinner one evening with Alice from Cameroon who has almost finished her PHD at Princeton Seminary. Memorial weekend was a busy and very special time. John played his tuba with the New Canaan Band on Sunday - and then he marched in the parade on Monday. We’re on our way to India – to Dharamsala and Spiti Valley – which you can read all about in our June Update. Please pray for safari jema (good travels) for us. |
