March came in like a lion with about six inches of snow. But now - “For lo, the winter is past,
the rain (snow) is over and gone; the flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of
birds is come.” ~Song of Solomon 2:11 – 12 KJV (King James Version)
Norwalk Emergency Shelter, also known as Manna House, has a new name. It is now Open Doors
Shelter. Noroton Presbyterian Church provides meals there for hundreds of people every month.
We met Sarah Papsun there. She and a group of friends are going to Tanzania and Kenya in
January 2010 to help needy children in Tanzania in The School of St. Jude. They will also
climb 3 Peaks in 3 Weeks. To help her support this charity, please see

The opening reception for “God’s People in Kenya” photo exhibit at Brendan’s 101 was a wonderful
evening. We were so pleased to have Kenyan friends as guests. All 26 photos are for sale - and
the proceeds will go to help eleven Masai girls in Bissel, Kenya to go to primary school.
You can see the photos at Brendan’s until Easter Monday, April 13 – and you can also see them on
this site in Photo Exhibits. Thank you Nicole and Wendy for the
great coverage of the exhibit and the Masai school girls ("Rowayton exhibit to help girls in Kenya") in the March
19th edition of the Norwalk Citizen. Three of our Gourmand friends are involved with the Norwalk/Nagorote
Sister City Project in Nicaragua. Please come to the May 1st fundraiser, which includes a silent
auction & wine tasting. To make your reservation, contact Priscilla at
pwoyke@newcanaannature.org.
The money raised will be used to support the Jeronimo Lopez Youth Project, where 150 kids take
after-school enrichment and job training classes.

One Saturday afternoon we took the train to New York City and saw John’s cousin’s granddaughter
Maggie perform with the Findlay, Ohio Show Choir in the Fame NY Competition. It was held at
the Manhattan Center Studios – a beautiful old opera house built in 1909 by Oscar Hammerstein I. Maggie’s group made
the finals - and then finished in 4th place. Congratulations Troop! Maggie and
her giraffe friends in Kenya were last featured on this site in July 2007.Our prayer this month is – fill us, we pray with your light and life that we may show forth your wonderful glory. Grant that your love may so fill our lives that we may count nothing too small to do for you, nothing too much to give and nothing too hard to bear. ~ Maryknoll |
