We arrived in Nairobi Friday evening, June 2nd, on time and with all 5 bags. We stayed with Evalyn Wakhusama until Tuesday, and used those three days to shop and shake off jet lag.

We arrived at Tumaini Home on Tuesday, and settled into a three bedroom apartment on the ground floor of the boy’s wing. Many friends and children greeted us.

What a difference a year has made! The children have grown, the shy ones are no longer shy, and we can converse with those who were just beginning to learn English last year. They are all really excited about their prayer partners and many are writing letters to their new friends in America.

The computer center is open to the primary school children each afternoon. They use the “Jump Start” programs to develop keyboard and mouse techniques, as well to sharpen their academic skills.

The sewing room has shifted into production mode. Nine women are busy sewing Sunday vests, school uniforms, and book bags for the 140 children.

Last year, 75 baby chicks arrived at about the same time we did. They are now fully grown and laying eggs -- and the children enjoy a boiled egg several times a week.

The dining hall is complete, the water system is operational, and with all the construction finished, the grounds look great – and more flowers are in bloom than when we were here last.

It is good to be back.
