We spent New Year’s Eve in Calgary, with four of Marilyn’s University of Alberta Home
Economics Classmates – and celebrated their 50th Anniversary. The Home Economics Department
(now the Human Ecology Dep’t.) focuses on relationships of people with their environments:
clothing, family, home and community. For more about U of A, one of Canada’s top five universities, see
www.ualberta.ca.
One afternoon, we met with eighteen senior members of Noroton Presbyterian Church, and talked
about the four mission projects in Kenya that NPC supports. You can learn about all the programs of
NPC at www.norotonchurch.org. – there’s something
for everyone of all ages – tots to seniors.
We, and others on the NPC Mission Team, enjoyed dinner one evening with Rev. Evalyn Wakhusama at
the Convent of St. Brigitta in Darien. She brought everyone up to speed on what’s been happening
at Nambale Magnet School. Fifty more students have been enrolled – and you can help these new
children by donating on line. Please see
www.nambalemagnet.org
Over a hundred women attended the NPC Women’s Retreat in Stony Point, New York – and they all got
to meet and to know Evalyn – and everyone learned about Nambale Magnet School, which she founded.

Lord of Heaven, in your infinite wisdom and mercy you have granted us a new year, another chance to turn to you and find happiness and peace. Look upon all who have yet to hear your name or experience your compassion, and grant that we all may discover you anew in everyone we meet today. Amen. ~ Maryknoll |
