Martha It’s a new year – with opportunities - and a few challenges too.

Twelve students from St. John Bosco Rehabilitation Centre in Kitali, Kenya, are being sponsored by St. John Church in Darien. They range in age from 11 to 16 and are in grades three to six. Please pray that they will enjoy life in their boarding schools and that they will do well in their classes this school year. To learn more about this program, please see http://www.boscokenya.org.

We met Anna, a Danish woman, who has lived in Kenya for 30 years. She is an Equine Sport Massage Therapist. If you saw “The Constant Gardener”, then you saw the horses, in the village raid scene at Lake Turkana, that Anna selected and cared for. She’s also a safari guide, so if you’d like to go on safari in Kenya, please get in touch with Anna at annagretemason@hotmail.com. Nambale Magnet School

The brand new Nambale Magnet School in Western Kenya opened on the 12th with 30 students – 22 of them in the Early Childrenhood Development Class and eight in the first grade. Please pray that these little ones will love their beautiful new school and their 14 caretakers. Fifteen of the children are being sponsored – funds are needed for the other 15. You can help by donating on-line at www.wiks.org/donate.htm.

Evalyn
Friends of Evalyn Wakhusama, founder and director of Nambale Magnet School, met with her one evening for supper and to hear the Nambale story. Thank you so much Marta, for hosting our gathering – and thank you too to everyone who has helped to build this school.

Cindy
“Focused Living in a World of Distraction” was the theme for the NPC Women’s Retreat. About a hundred women spent a weekend with Cindy McDonnell, the guest speaker, and author of numerous books. Thank you Cindy, for making your printed words come alive for us. For more about Cindy and her books, please see www.EncouragingWords.net.

In March, 23 of Marilyn’s “God’s People in Kenya” photos will be on exhibit in Brendan’s 101 in Rowayton. Here’s a sneak preview. Proceeds from the sale of these photos, and all the others in the show, will go to help eleven Masai girls in Bissel, Kenya to go to primary school.

Our thought of the month is -

“Love of God and love of neighbor
have become one:
in the least of the brethen,
we find Jesus Himself,
and in Jesus, we find God.”

~Pope Benedict XVI -
