The themes of our daily devotionals during Advent focused on faith, hope, joy and peace – and we have known all of these.
Kenyan friends, who live in New Jersey, joined us for lunch one Saturday afternoon, and then we
spent some time viewing all the wonderful Christmas items in the Rowayton Arts Center. Two of

Our small group, and two friends, visited Atria in Darien, and sang Christmas carols with the residents, some of whom are members of Norton

We cross-country skied at Lake Louise, one of our favorite spots in the Rockies. The snow was fresh, the temperature just a few degrees below
freezing, the mountains majestic – and we were often the only people out there in God’s wilderness. We loved the quiet – the only sound
sometimes that of a far-off train.
On Boxing Day, the day after Christmas, Marilyn’s family gathered. Marilyn has lived in the US since 1967, and she has gone back to Alberta
almost every Christmas since then. It was great to be with her sister and four brothers and their spouses, her three nieces and thirteen
nephews and their spouses, and her four grand nieces and twelve grand nephews.
Creator God,
You made us for Your delight,
You took risks to give us freedom,
You weep when we hurt or ignore one another.
Restore in us Your way of seeing,
Give us the vision to look beyond
our fears and suspicion to Your way of love.
Strengthen our wills to come closer to one another,
grant us a wisdom that perceives
the difference between good and evil,
and to trust as you trust us.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
