We are so busy – there are so many things going on now here in Tumaini.

The photo project is almost finished. Just about all 142 of the primary & secondary students now have 12 of their own photos -- which they will put into a scrapbook they’ll make.

John and the Form 1 (Freshman) students are almost thru reading and discussing “The Old Man & The Sea”.

And the trip to the Aberdares was a huge HIT! Most of the 180 kids who went on the bus had never been on a bus before – and had never been to a Wildlife Park – and had never seen real live elephants, Cape Buffaloes, bush bucks, water bucks, diks diks, warthogs, baboons, Colubus Monkeys, ducks, Egyptian Geese – or waterfalls. Asante sana (thank you so much) prayer partners.

We had 11 visitors from West Virginia – and Rev. Eve Tolley also spent a week here. One afternoon, she shared “her story” with all 80 secondary students who are writing “their stories” to put in their scrapbooks along with their photos.

We are getting to know the children of Tumaini – we’ve seen some of the little ones crying, and we’ve seen them with runny noses and broken wrists – and we’ve seen them laughing and heard them screaming as they play hide-and-seek and soccer with balls made of plastic bags and string. We’ve seen them studying – and trying to type more than ten words a minute on the computers – and we’ve heard them singing at 5 am in the morning.

It’s going to be hard to leave here on Sept. 18th --
