This has been a very busy month. We’ve had many joyful days - and some very sad ones too. Our friends, Ruth and Tom from Bethany, met Jane, the secondary student of Tumaini, that they are prayer partners with. All the children there would like to meet their prayer partners. Please Lord God, inspire others to come to Kenya to give hope to these children. Marilyn, with help from John and our Thika friends, Lucy and Jane, taught forty one children in Nyumbani Children’s Home in Karen how to take photos with small Kodak cameras and then to mount them in scrapbooks. Their photos will also be put on a disc to give to donors. Please God, take care of all children everywhere who are HIV+ and help to make drugs and food available for them so that they will grow and live normal lives. The Presbyterian College of East Africa in Kikuyu received Interim Authority to become a university on the 10th. It will now offer Business Administration and Computer Science courses, in addition to its Divinity program. Please God help the new vice-chancellor and Board of Directors to find the staff, students and financial support needed to make it a bigger and better institution of higher learning. The Sugarbaker Clinic in Nyeri was dedicated on the 12th. Visiting doctors and nurses will serve the children of Tumaini, members of Riamukurwe Parish and many others in the community. Please Lord, help to get this new clinic furnished and operating by January, 2008. John presented “Information Technology Skills” at the Presbyterian University in Kukuyu to 60 parish secretaries. Ground was broken on the 18th for Nambale Residentail Magnet School in Western Kenya – see www.wiks.org. Please Lord, help Rev. Evalyn Wakhusama and the WIKS Board of Directors to make wise decisions as the Phase One construction gets underway – and help this new school to be finished and ready to accept students in 2009. And on the same day that WIKS Directors shoveled soil to plant trees for life, the Matthiessen family in Heisler, Alberta dropped handfuls of earth onto Aaron’s coffin. Aaron, who is Marilyn’s nephew, died in an accident on the 11th. This has been difficult for us – we are so far away. We pray that Our Heavenly Father has provided many others to comfort and support Aaron’s wife and young son, his parents, and his brothers and sister. If you, or someone you know, would like to make a donation to Nambale Residential Magnet School in Aaron’s memory, please contact Marilyn – parkerma@juno.com. |
