This, our last month here at home in Connecticut until September, was a time of very special gatherings.

Meg, Erika and Julie Marilyn attended the First Annual Lenten Luncheon, along with 300 Christian women from all the twelve churches in Darien, and $18,000 was raised for the Feed My Starving Children Packing Event which will take place in October. The goal is to pack 300,000 meals that are especially formulated to be nutritious and culturally acceptable anywhere in the world. To help, see www.feedmystarvingchildren.org.

Chuck and Stanley We, and eight others from Noroton Presbyterian Church in Darien, attended The Open Door Shelter Gala Dinner and silent auction. The event drew 280 people and raised $85,000. The Open Door is the only emergency shelter in Norwalk for homeless people, and their new Hope Works Program teaches computer skills that help shelter residents find jobs. To help, see www.norwalkemergencyshelter.org.

Gourmand Friends We enjoyed our Gourmand Dinner hosted by the Campbell’s – and we were sad to learn that Sue and Bill will be moving during the summer to their new home in a golf community in Fort Mill, South Carolina.

Easter Dinner Our Holy Week, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday was filled with deep thoughts, glorious music, beautiful flowers, visiting with family and lots of our favorite foods. We also celebrated both John’s and his brother’s birthdays. Guess how old they are.

Please pray with us –

With fear and trembling
we approach the grave of our shattered dreams.
Who will roll back the stone of ignorance?

O God, the tomb is empty!
What can this mean? Who has done this?
Where is the One in whom alone our hearts find rest?

Tears blur Mary Magdalene’s vision.
Sorrow closes her mind to the miracle
standing as a stranger before her.

Speak, O Risen Lord, our names,
like you once spoke Mary’s to her
when all creation gasped
as eternal darkness bowed to everlasting dawn.

Amen, Alleluia!
