April 2007 Update

HE is Risen! Truly HE is risen! Easter was beautiful – with all the flowers and music. We had dinner with John’s brother and his wife in their new home in Berlin, CT. We also visited briefly with our friend Jane Wanyiri in New Haven where she was works at the Connecticut Mental Health Center.

Jane went to Kenya on April16 to visit her sister and her mother in Nyeri. This is her first time back home since she came to the US ten years ago. Thank you Jane for visiting Tumaini Children’s Home, for meeting the girl that you are praying for and for delivering lots of letters from prayer partners.

We had a Kenyan dinner (somewhat Americanized) at our friend Irene’s home – and we met her mum, Agnes, who is here from Kenya.

We sorted, packed and shipped off more books (170 pounds) for the children in Tumaini. These will arrive there in early July.

One Sunday, we gathered for brunch with World Vision people, including two men from The Dominican Republic, and also people from Noroton Presbyterian Church (NPC) who have gone on mission trips to The DR. It was Luis’ birthday, and we surprised him with a cake and candles.

And along with three hundred others, we enjoyed the “Planting Seeds of Hope” Gala (fundraiser) Dinner for the Norwalk Emergency Shelter (also known as Manna House). This is another way that NPC is “responding to the call of Jesus Christ to love and serve in a broken world”.

Thank you God, for the young couple and their baby and their dog who will live in our home while their home is being renovated, and while we are away in India and Kenya – from June 1 until October 2. Thank you too, for the NPC family who is leasing our Roton Point unit for the summer.
