Spring is here! Thank you God for all the new life we’re seeing around us – the blossoms,
leaves, green grass and singing birds. We started off the month with music. The NPC Chancel Choir and Orchestra, directed by Dwayne Condon, presented Morten Lauridsen’s “Lux Aeterna” and Dwayne performed W.A. Mozart’s “Piano Concerto 21”. It was wonderful! Kenyan friends from New Jersey and Stamford attended, and it was great to spend this time with them. At the end of the month, we enjoyed The Fonz and his friends in “Happy Days” at Goodspeed Opera House on the Connecticut River.
In between these musical events, we celebrated Kelina’s first birthday at her home in
Middletown. Her mom has started a new job, as a social worker in a nearby high school.
We also had pizza and played games with grandaughter Emily and her Aunt Betsy, and
sampled tapas with our gourmand group. At NPC’s 6:15 am bible study, Marilyn met Susan Hill, author of “Closer Than Your Skin”. See www.closerthanyourskin.com and also see www.ugandaorphans.com to learn about the work that she and her husband, Duncan, are doing to send God’s love to children in Uganda.
With some friends from Noroton Presbyterian and Macedonia Churches, we attended the Annual
Gala Fund Raiser Dinner and Silent Auction for Norwalk Emgerency Shelter. A video of local
needy children, put together by Ashley Russ, was shown. See her beautiful photographs of
children at www.cricketphotography.net. Thank you for praying for Marilyn’s sister-in-law Marcy. She is recovering at home now, after six weeks in the hospital. Please continue to pray for her complete healing. Another sister-in-law, Elaine, is biking for MS. If you know someone with MS, maybe you’d like to make a donation. Your sponsorship of Elaine will greatly encourage her as she prepares for this test of her endurance. See her letter. We leave May 29th to live and work in Meru, Kenya for the summer. Fuel and food costs there have risen a lot, because of the violence and disruptions since the election last December. Many displaced persons are still living in tented camps, and are not planting maize and other crops on their shambas, so less food will be grown this season. Fewer tourists have gone to Kenya, and so many people lost their jobs. For high school leavers (graduates) in Kenya, finding jobs is next to impossible. Please consider sponsoring a Tumaini leaver so that he or she can get further training now. Just let Marilyn know if you’d like to do this – parkerma@juno.com. And here’s something to think about – from Source Marketing in Norwalk, CT. |

“Those who have prosperity, should always give to charity. a cent, a buck, a ten, a mil. Give what you can, give what you will. If those who have help those who've not, then those who've not will have a lot. And if the ones who had then lack, the ones who got can give some back.” Return to Top |
